Ah, springtime....we here at These Are Not Records have alot of love to give.
And by love we mean news to share:
We received the test pressings for the Oneida 7" this week. The songs sound great! Final product is expected to arrive in the next two weeks. We're going to be cautious however and set the release date for 5/27/08. Stay tuned.
Demander 7" news! Our Demander 7" is on the fast track to ensured success! Impress your co-workers with your savvy taste in vinyl! This single will feature two new tracks from their as-yet-to-be-recorded sophomore release.
Books and Coulee continue the great Demander tradition of sweet love and rocking the fuck out. This little single even gets a mention in a recent Demander news story on CMJ.com. Read about it here. We're meeting with the band this week to discuss artwork and such so stay tuned for further details.
Our Elf Power 10" has been sent to the plant and should be back to us in about six weeks. As previously mentioned, it features two out-takes from the recording sessions for their recent Rykodisc release "In A Cave"; Venus and Mercury and Mutiny. We're pressing this one on beautiful translucent brown vinyl in a hand-numbered edition of 600. The packaging features photographs from the talented Ofer Wolberger — www.oferwolberger.com.
We finally have a blog! Yes, "exactly" what the world needed. This will be a place for us to talk about whatever the hell we want...but mostly records. Records that we put out as well as records that other people put out. Maybe something topical.
Some cool shows coming up for some of our These Are Not Records friends:
The Jealous Girlfriends are having a two night party to celebrate the release of their stellar S/T record on Montreal label Good Fences. This will take place on 5/27 and 5/28 at the Mercury Lounge in NYC.
These guys are great live so do yourself a favor and attend this show! Oneida is doing a two night performance of "The Wedding" in it's entirety with a live string quartet! This is hapening at The Kitchen in NYC on Friday 6/13 and Saturday 6/14. Light show provided by Mighty Robot A/V Squad. This is probably a one-tine only affair so definitely check this show out!
